It can be hard to choose a baby carrier - there are so many out there to choose from!
This section will provide information on the features of carriers I
have personal experience of from the Sling Library. Carriers don't
'pass' or 'fail'. Instead, each has its features listed with
suitability for different ages/uses etc.
Choosing a baby carrier is a personal thing. Please use this
information as a guide only, and if possible try the carrier before
buying.

 POUCH - Dulce & Zoet
Composition: Double-layered reversible 100% cotton
Measurements: XS to XXL
Weight/age: Newborn to 2 yrs
Ease of use: Excellent
Suitability: Good for quick trips, outings where baby or toddler is up and down.
Carries: D&Z mainly advertise the nursing cradle carry and hip & back carry, but a diagonal cradle carry is comfy too.
Instructions: very good
Approximate price: $65
Extras: comes in its own tote bag, can be gift wrapped.

Comment: Dulce & Zoet's fabrics are delicious! They are one of the most established sling vendors in NZ.
 POUCH - Little Kiwi Sling
Composition: Available in 100% cotton one-way stretch fabric, double layer reversible; or Merino wool.
Measurements: XS to XL If you find yourself 'between' sizes, you may want to choose the slightly smaller size, to compensate for the minor stretch. The slings shrink around 5% when washed, then stretch out again with wear.
Weight/age: Newborn to Toddler (approx 2yrs)
Ease of use: Excellent
Suitability:
Great for short trips, merino is nice and warm/breatheable for babies. The cotton version may not be supportive enough for large toddlers.
Carries: Diagonal cradle, kangaroo, hip carry.
Instructions: good.
Approximate price: Cotton $55, Merino $75

Comment: These are nice and soft, with simple colour combos .
 POUCH - Nelly
Composition: Combination of silk and/or 100% cotton lined, reversible double layer.
Measurements: XS-XL
Weight/age: Newborn to Toddler (approx 2yrs)
Ease of use: Excellent
Suitability:
Very supportive even for larger babies & toddlers.
Carries: Worn pre-folded. Diagonal & nursing cradle, kangaroo, hip & back.
Instructions: good

Extras: Little band to attach around shoulder.

Comment: Nelly's silk fabrics are just divine!
 POUCH - Peanutshell
Composition: micro-fleece,
smooth cotton sateen or cotton reversible. Usually one layer.
Measurements:
S-XL
Weight/age: Newborn to approx 15kg-2yrs
Ease of use: Excellent
Suitability: Good for new sling users, gives a more snug fit than other pouches.
Carries:
Diagonal cradle, kangaroo, tummy to tummy,
Instructions: Excellent

features: one padded rail to cushion knees in hip carry

Comment: This is a really easy sling to fit and use.
 POUCH - Unido
Composition: 98% and 100% cotton designer fabrics
Measurements:
XS-XL, but with custom fitting for any size.
Weight/age: Newborn to toddler-2yrs
Ease of use: Excellent
Suitability: Supportive for short and longer periods of wearing .
Carries:
Nursing & diagonal cradle carry, kangaroo, hip & back. Prefolded and/ or flipped shoulder.
Instructions: very good.
Extras:
Choose own colour combination on Unido site.

Comment: You can really tell the quality of the fabric just by the feel of it.
 POUCH - Nestling 'Hold Close' Merino Sling
Composition: 100% NZ Merino and designer fabric combinations.
Measurements: XS/6 - XXL/16
Weight/age: Newborn to 10kg
Ease of use: Very easy to use.
Suitability: The Merino layer 'breathes' very well. Ideal for younger babies.
Carries: Nursing & diagonal cradle carry, front, hip. Prefolded and/ or flipped shoulder.
Instructions: Basic but easy to follow.
Safety features: Must have one arm on baby at all times.

Comment: Delicate subtle fabrics lend themselves to that 'fancy day out' as well as every day use, and the merino inner is lovely for babies.
