"Many would say he is way too old, too heavy to be carried around in a pouch sling. He would sleep better if left alone in a crib, others would remark. Forget the snide comments and ignore the weird looks from strangers. By babycarrying we actively respond to the basic needs of a baby---warmth, security, connection, love, closeness and trust. Keep your babies close to your hearts for a baby is happiest being held."
The Otepoti Dunedin Babywearing Library is an all-volunteer organization of people passionate about babywearing. We believe babywearing to be practical for parents and beneficial for babies.
Where is the Babywearing Library located?
The Library is run from the Early Years Hub, 158 Oxford St, South Dunedin.
On the last Wednesday of every month there is a dedicated Babywearing coffee morning from 10am-12pm at the Early Years Hub. You can talk Babywearing over a coffee, access the Library and receive instruction from an experienced babywearer.
Since the library was initially sponsored by the Conscious Parenting group, every 2nd Wednesday of the month you can access the Library during the first and last 30 minutes of the CP meeting, 10-10.30am and 11.30-12pm. Anyone interested in Attachment Parenting are welcome to stay for the meeting as well!
Please arrange pick-up and returns of Library loans during the above times.
If you can't make it to a Library meeting time and have any questions or just want advice about wearing your baby, feel free to email email@example.com
A lifetime membership to the library costs $25. This fee helps to expand the library, as well as to replace existing slings and carriers as they wear out.
With each new membership, the first two loans are free of charge. After the first two you are welcome to loan more at a cost of $10 per loan.
